Dear Ian,

with dearest regret I have learned that you passed away on December 28th. As for everyone, it was a shock for me as it came unexpected. I accept death as part of our life and therefore see nothing bad in it. But I am always sad when death takes away people that are still needed. Certainly your family will miss the father. For sure Siemens Mobile Phones and many of its employees will miss their energetic CEO. I was in the lucky position to get to know you in person and you have earned my greatest respect in almost all aspects of work-life (not a lot of people in your position have achieved that). You have inspired me to go new ways, given me confidence that we can be successful and grown to the leader to lean on in just a short time. As this time is the time for the people that were nearest to you I will stop here and wish them all the strength they need to continue their lifes without you.

It was great getting to know you,

Kind regards

Thorsten Runge
