Today would have been Ian's 52nd birthday. To mark and celebrate I went for lunch at Auberge du Lac with Jen, Jeanette and Ian's sister Julie. In spite of the weather, the location of the restaurant on the water's edge of Brocket Golf club was still beautiful. Looking out of the window you could see the huge Christmas tree in the annex of the clubhouse and memories of when Ian, the children and I would meet for lunch there after he had played came flooding back. We had some happy times at the club and as for Ian well....it was one of his favourite places so it was nice to be there on his special day.

 

After lunch (which was delicious) we walked up to Ian's bench dressed in our Sunday best through the long wet grass. I had come prepared having brought my wellies but the others braved it in their high heels.

 

We sat on the bench placed flowers and sang happy birthday....good job there weren't any golfers around our singing leaves much to be desired. As we finished singing a big gust of wind blew the umbrella inside out, we all laughed....it was Ian blowing out the candles on his cake!

 

We had a lovely afternoon and drank a toast to Ian and Marco. HAPPY BIRTHDAY my darling we love and miss you every moment of every day.
